RBT is one of the most in-demand occupations in the country, growing at a rate of almost 10% from 2021 - 2031, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. RBT pays above the national average for starting behavioral health occupations and offers several different paths forward for those looking to stay within the field.
Many RBTs develop a passion for the field of Applied Behavior Analysis and choose to further their education and career by getting certified as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). BCBAs are responsible for developing treatment plans for the clients, supervising RBTs, providing parent training support, and monitoring ongoing changes in the clients' skill levels and challenging behaviors. Many BCBAs also choose to move into leadership positions in the field, such as regional directors, center directors, training directors, mentors, BACB supervisors, quality assurance, or opening their own ABA companies.
Generally, these positions range anywhere from $80,000 to $150,000 per year, depending on factors such as location, size of the team you will be managing, billable hour requirements, travel requirements, and more.
